2 CEUs for Chiropractors and Massage Therapists *
Live Webinar or Attend at Our School. Instructor will be teaching the course in both formats (hybrid).
Course Description:
Protecting patient protected health information (PHI) is a legal and ethical obligation for healthcare practices. Violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) can result in substantial fines, penalties, and reputational damage — and ignorance of the law is not a defense. This course provides professionals with a clear, practical understanding of what their offices must do to remain compliant. Participants will gain a working knowledge of the three primary HIPAA rules — the Privacy Rule, Security Rule, and Breach Notification Rule — and learn how these regulations apply specifically to healthcare settings. Through real-world examples and actionable guidance, this course clarifies what constitutes protected health information (PHI), what situations can trigger violations, and how to properly conduct and document a risk assessment. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to proactively safeguard patient information and confidently respond to potential complaints or investigations.
